Repair work finally begins at fire-ravaged Halifax jewellers
Work is finally underway to restore a Halifax town centre jewellers devastated by a fire.
The blaze at Franklyns Jewellers and Goldsmiths on Market Street in August caused a huge amount of damage and the firm’s team have not been able to work from there since.
Instead, they have been in Harveys, on Commercial Street, three days a week.
But now – five months after the fire – Franklyns has announced repair work has started at its store.

"The contractors are in, let the work begin,” the company posted.
"It's going to take a while but we're really looking forward to seeing all our lovely customers soon.”
Posting after the blaze, Richard and Nicky Franklyn – who run Franklyns – said no one was hurt by the fire but it “created devastation” in the shop.
Black smoke could be seen billowing from the first floor of the building where the jewellers is based and it is understood several nearby premises were evacuated.
