Road closures on M62

Motorists are being advised that the M62 will be closed overnight on Sunday as part of ongoing work on the managed motorway upgrade scheme.

The motorway will be shut in both directions between junction 25 at Brighouse and junction 26 at Chain Bar from 8pm on Sunday until 6am on Monday, for installation of traffic monitoring equipment.

During the closure, a clearly-signed diversion will be in place. Westbound traffic will leave the motorway at junction 26 and travel via the A58, A641 and A644. Eastbound traffic will leave at junction 25 and follow the A644, A62 and A638.

The work is being carried out overnight, when traffic flows are lower, but drivers are asked to plan in advance and allow extra time for their journeys.

Work on the managed motorway scheme between junctions 25 and 30 is due to complete in the autumn. The first section, between junctions 27 and 28, became fully operational earlier in May, with further sections due to open in phases later this summer.
