Sowerby Bridge manufacturer J&C Joel show their support for research charity

Joining Jack is a charity which raises funds for research into duchenne muscular dystrophy and was set up by rugby league star Andy Johnson and his wife Alex after their son Jack was diagnosed with the life-shortening muscle-wasting condition in 2011.

The team features some of the most famous names from both rugby codes, and reached the semi-finals of the tournament in the International Vets section.

J&C Joel’s CEO James Wheelwright said: “We’re extremely proud to have supported Joining Jack at the Dubai 7s.

“It is an extremely worthy cause and something we felt strongly about getting involved in. Many of us here J&C Joel have children ourselves so this charity has touched our hearts.”

Alex Johnson said: “Every penny counts towards achieving our aim of raising as much money as possible to fund vital research.

“There are a number of research projects at the moment that are looking really promising and the money we raise from the tournament will go to research that is the most likely to result in a treatment reaching the patients as soon as possible.”
