Sweet taste of success for apprentice Keely

Nestlé Halifax's process apprentice Keely Laycock scooped the '˜Make a Difference' award at the Nestlé Academy Graduation ceremony.

The award is one of the ways Nestlé have recognised six young people who have excelled in demonstrating the company’s values, principles and leadership behaviours.

Keely was recognised for her dedication, planning skills and contribution which made a huge difference to the success of a number of projects at the factory, which is located at Albion Mills.

In addition, as a result of her hard work, she has been selected to train and assess other Nestlé’s factories in the future.

Keely, 20, who lives in Sowerby Bridge, said: “I really enjoyed the evening and was thrilled to be chosen for the ‘Make a Difference’ award.

“I’ve really enjoyed my apprenticeship and to have had the honour of representing Halifax at the event.”

Nestlé Academy hosted the graduation ceremony to celebrate the achievements of those completing their academy schemes this year.

Nestle announced in February last year is was to create 45 new jobs at the Halifax factory as part of a £5.25m investment on the back of winning a contract to produce Peanut Butter Cups there.

From October last year, Nestle have been manufacturing the product there for export to the US market. The Halifax site employs up to 1,000 people at peak production times and produces Quality Street, After Eight and Easter eggs.
