Trade warms up fast for green energy firm

Yorkshire Heat Pumps, which is based at Blubberhouses, was set up in 2013 by Michael and Kate Wright, who also own Michael Wright Furniture.

The company specialises in installing ground-source and air-source heat-pumps and biomass boilers, and business has been boosted in recent months after the company was accredited by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

This enabled it to benefit from the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentives (RHI) Scheme, which provides long-term financial incentives to homeowners and businesses making the switch to renewable heating sources.

Mr Wright said he was inspired to set the business up having seen the disappointing service levels offered to some of his clients by other providers.

He added: “Having installed a ground-source heat-pump at my own barn conversion I was already a convert to the benefits of renewable energy. And setting up a renewables company seemed a logical extension of the Michael Wright Furniture offering.”
