West Yorkshire restaurants: Calderdale town's 'best-loved restaurant' that opened 30 years ago now up for sale

One of Calderdale’s favourite restaurants has gone on the market.

Brook’s Restaurant, on Bradford Road in Brighouse, is understood to be open as usual but has gone up for sale for £150,000.

The eatery opened 30 years ago and is described by its listing on property website Zoopla as “the town’s best-loved restaurant venue”.

"An exceptionally well-known and highly-regarded, contemporary licensed restaurant in the Calderdale region of West Yorkshire,” says the listing.

"Established over 30 years ago and trading consistently well, the restaurant is a much-loved institution in this vibrant small town.

"The main restaurant floor has an elegant bar area with seating for 16 to 18 customers and a dining room which is very spaciously laid out to accommodate 40 diners.

"A private, eclectic dining room in the basement can cater to parties of up to 16 guests.

"Outside seating is available on bistro tables. Internal decor is earthy and neutral, with original wood floors and is entirely suitable for any manner of theme or cuisine.

"Truly outstanding back of house areas, rarely seen in the industry, with a superbly equipped commercial catering kitchen on the ground floor.”

There is also an additional food prep room and large walk-in chiller in the basement, together with a bottle store, dry goods store and chemical room with laundry area.

"The restaurant enjoys consistent sales turnover in excess of £476,000 per annum and enjoys good net profits,” said the listing.

It adds: "The town hosts many street events during the year, which attract a colossal amount of visitors to the restaurant and other complimenting businesses.”

The move to sell Brook’s comes soon after Czerwick Fine Wines and Cheeses, on Commercial Street in Brighouse, announced it will shut on December 31.

The shop has been serving people across Calderdale and beyond for 33 years.

The Courier has also reported how another Brighouse business – The Millers Bar – is shutting on October 27.
