Wonder-fuel news for drivers

The New Year has brought the good news of cheaper fuel and supermarket giant Asda has announced it will slash the cost of its diesel and petrol by two pence a litre to record low prices seen in the last five years.

It will cost the customer 105.7 pence per litre to fill up with unleaded petrol and 112.7 pence per litre for diesel.

The new prices are effective from January 6 and are the lowest fuel prices seen on the forecourt in the past five years.

Morrisons, Halifax, prices are 108 pence per litre for unleaded petrol and 110 pence per litre for diesel.

Tesco has dropped its prices by two pence per litre and customers at Tesco, Brighouse, can expect to pay 106.9 pence per litre for unleaded and 113.9 pence per litre for diesel.

Andy Peake, Asda’s petrol trading director said: “As fuel prices continue to drop, Asda once again are leading the way with our fourteenth price cut on fuel since September.

“No matter where customers live, they will benefit from the same fuel price with our national price cap.”
