18 pupils at Calderdale school asked to self-isolate after teacher tests positive for COVID-19

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School has asked 18 of its key stage one pupils to self-isolate at home after a teacher tested positive for COVID-19.

Sue McManamin, headteacher, said: “To date there has not been an outbreak which is classed as two or more members of our community testing positive.

“One teacher has tested positive and I am relieved that other than very mild symptoms she is well.

“As a result, 18 Key Stage 1 pupils were asked to self-isolate at home.

“We followed the DfE guidance and all parents have been made aware of this situation and have responding in a very positive and supportive manner.

“I would like to reassure everyone that school have a detailed risk assessment in place and we are following all guidance appropriately.

“It is of course a pity that this has happened as the start of term has been enthusiastically welcomed by everyone, attendance has been high and the feeling around school has been lovely.”
