A Level results day 2024: 19 pictures of Halifax students picking up their results

Students across Calderdale have received their A Level results today (Thursday).

Thousands of 16 and 17-year-olds across the UK sat their A Level exams this May and June.

They have now been finding out their results.

North Halifax Grammar School headteacher Desmond Deehan said: “Congratulations to our Year 13 students at NHGS who have received their A level results this morning. Fifty six percent of students achieved A* to B grades in academic A Levels, with 17 students achieving all A* and A grades.

“These students have not only studied hard but have also contributed to a wide array of different activities over the years. Many students have made enormous contributions to the music department at NHGS over the years, who have played in bands and orchestras, and sung in the choirs. Other students have aimed to build a better world by supporting charities and communities, as well as younger students both at NHGS and in local primaries. They have also put on plays, built rockets, entered STEM Olympiads, debated, played sports, and pursued a wide range of interests over the years.

“Through some turbulent years of schooling they have shown the character and confidence to continue to forge their own courses and we are very proud of them.

"This would not have been possible without all the hard work and commitment of their teachers and school staff who have supported them along the journey and thanks go to them and to the parents, friends and members of the wider community who have also played a role in their development.”

Principal at Trinity Sixth Form Academy in Halifax Michael Fitzsimons said: "Our students have performed incredibly well, breaking every record at the college for progress and attainment to date.

"We have had medicine and Oxbridge successes, lots of confirmed university places and a smaller but significant number of students taking up apprenticeships and employment.

"We couldn't be prouder of all our students and it has been a real pleasure watching them open their results with their teachers, friends and families."

Headteacher of The Crossley Heath School Dean Jones said: "We are so proud to see the happiness of our students as they achieve great results to reach the successful destinations they have been aiming for.

"We are celebrating the academic excellence our students have achieved, supported by the strong values of kindness and courage which their educational journey as part of our Crossley Heath School family promotes.

"We hope each and every one of our students has the happiest of futures and contributes positively to society in the years to come."

Head of Rishworth School, Dr Anthony Wilkins, said: "The Year 13 Rishworthians have not only demonstrated academic excellence but also proved themselves to be fantastic leaders and contributors to society. We are all incredibly proud of them and their fantastic achievements.”

Calderdale Council’s Deputy Leader, Coun Scott Patient, said: “Congratulations to all those receiving their results for A levels, AS levels, T levels, vocational and technical qualifications today. I know it’s a nerve-wracking time, but hopefully many students are celebrating achieving the results they wanted and are looking forward to taking the next step in further education or starting their career.”
