Akroydon Primary Academy’s festive fundraiser for Overgate Hospice

On the last day of term Akroydon Primary Academy had a fantastic time taking part in The Overgate Reindeer Run.

Pupils were dressed as reindeer, complete with antlers and red noses, running laps around the school playground to raise much needed funds for Overgate Hospice. Each class participated in turn running throughout their break time.

Using the power of social media, one pupil raised an astonishing £1,010. Being so impressed with her efforts to fundraise, Maisie’s dad posted about the Reindeer Run charity event on his social media accounts, leading to a flood of donations from his network of family and friends.

Principal Annie McNally said, “Our parents and community have been very generous with their sponsorship donations, and we’re delighted to be on target to raise over £2,000 to help the work of this amazing charity. In addition, we are also supporting the Community Christmas Project with Mothershare, HealthyMums and Focus4Hope, where gifts and food hampers have been donated to families in need ahead of Christmas.”

The other Trinity Multi-Academy Trust primary schools, St Chad’s in Brighouse and Trinity Academy St Peter’s in Sowerby Bridge, also had some festive fun participating and raising funds.
