The cross was commissioned by the school and is not a traditional Latin cross but instead takes the form of a child with outstretched arms.

Words including Love, Hope, Joy and Trust are embedded onto the clothing of the child on the design.

The blessing of the cross ceremony was attended by a host of guests including the Mayor of Calderdale Councillor Patricia Allen, members of Lightcliffe Primary School Parents’, Friends’ and Staff Association, school governors and retired teaching staff, as well as various friends and helpers of Lightcliffe School.
