Rated Outstanding by Ofsted for their apprenticeship provision, Calderdale College is also in the top two colleges in West Yorkshire for apprenticeship results.

Students studying vocational courses benefit from working on live briefs for clients, such as Covea Insurance, Lloyds Banking Group and Impact Gamers. These real projects have given Business students the chance to gain experience, whilst developing the knowledge of agile working practices used in industry.

Matthew Metcalfe, Senior Manager – Talent Acquisition at Covea Insurance, said of the results: “We are delighted to see the latest superb set of results achieved by the College. They play a key role in enabling our business to recruit highly talented individuals in Calderdale and have done so over a number of years through the high quality apprenticeships they deliver.

“We are very excited to be working in collaboration with them to develop programmes that add real value to Covéa Insurance and the wider Calderdale community.”

Student Chloe Kirkwood, who recently finished the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business, commented: “Having the chance to work with actual businesses on real life projects was so beneficial, it allowed us to understand what real life briefs would be like. It also allowed us to understand how businesses work in regards to potential new small businesses opening.”

Principal and Chief Executive, John Rees, commented on the results: “To retain our place as the number one college in West Yorkshire for the third year is truly outstanding and testament to the hard work of our staff and students.

“Whilst we are proud of these results, we’re also keen to build on them. We know that if we continue to innovate, we can go on to become the best in the country at what we do. It's an exciting time to be studying with us and we believe we can provide the opportunity for every student to reach their ambitions.”

Future students at Calderdale College will soon have the opportunity to be the first to study a T-Level, a brand new type of qualification that combines classroom theory with practical learning and an industry placement.
