The children joined the museum team as part of National Takeover Day 2014, an annual event organised by Kids in Museums where children across the UK are invited to help run and make decisions for museums, galleries and heritage sites.

The children tried their hand at a number of jobs around the museum including working on the admission tills, answering phones and handling enquiries on the information desk, running the gift shop and supporting visitors exploring the All About Me Gallery.

Next on the agenda was the chance to pose questions about what it’s like to work in a children’s museum to members of the Eureka! team including Day Shift Security Operative Darren Reid, Play and Learning Officer Jenny Goodall and Web and Media Manager Sophie Ballinger.

Penny Dargan-Makin, Team Leader at Eureka! who helped organise the takeover said: “We loved being taken over. The Highbury children were enthusiastic, friendly and really, really helpful – perfect additions to the team at Eureka!”
