St John’s Primary Academy, Clifton, has been getting into the spirit of things as pupils have been making their own scarecrows while singing the “dingly dangly scarecrows song”.

Principal Helen Lever said the children are “very proud” for the first ever scarecrow festival.

Pupils accompanied by teachers have enjoyed looking at the scarecrows, which have become a great vocal point in the village.

Mrs Lever said: “We can all get involved, it’s a real community thing.”

The scarecrow festival - which is specifically for Clifton residents, their families and friends only - runs from today (Friday) until Sunday.

On Saturday a marquee in Clifton Park will host a variety of musical performances, as well as a beer festival.
