Fruits of harvest donated to homeless

Boxes of tined and dried goods, together with toothpaste, shampoos and soaps, were presented to Harrogate Homeless Project by the senior boarding pupils from Ashville College’s Briggs House.

This is the third year running the boys from the boarding house have supported Harrogate Homeless Project, which was founded by Harrogate Churches Together in 1991 in order to try and alleviate the growing number of people sleeping rough in the district.

Briggs Housemaster Gilmour Coad said: “Charity, they say, beings at home and in our case charity has begun with the homeless.

“Harrogate Homeless Project does invaluable work in the town and I was delighted that the boys have again nominated it to be the recipient of the goods donated at the Harvest Festival service.”

Founded in 1877, Ashville College is a leading independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 4-18 years.
