GCSE performance of Calderdale schools up

A number of Calderdale schools have made significant improvements on last year’s GCSE performence, today’s results have shown.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People’s Services, Coun Colin Raistrick said: “The hard work has paid off for many students across Calderdale, and some of the individual success stories are a real cause for celebration.

“Results across Calderdale have reflected the picture nationally. Some schools have seen real gains, while other results are down on previous years.

“I am particularly pleased to note the success achieved by those children that are looked after.

“I’d like to wish all Calderdale students the best of luck, whatever options they pursue for their future.”

Among the schools celebrating is Rastrick High, whose students achieved record breaking results.

Headteacher Steve Evans, said: “We are thrilled that our Year 11 students have performed so well this year, achieving the school’s best ever results.

“The students were set challenging targets in September and through their hard work, support from their parents and carers and the dedication of staff they have achieved excellent results.”
