Halifax students jet off on Moroccan adventure

A group of students from Halifax’s Calderdale College are enjoying a 15-day educational visit to Morocco.

The 38 students have jetted off to immerse themselves in a vibrant blend of culture, heritage and hands-on learning.

The exciting international opportunity has been made possible thanks to £61,000 of funding secured through the Turing Scheme, which provides students with pathways to develop personal and professional skills through global experiences linked directly to their studies.

The trip has been delivered in partnership with The Learning Adventure.

David Malone, principal and chief executive at Calderdale College, said: “This Moroccan adventure will broaden students’ perspectives in powerful ways through travel and tourism, giving them meaningful learning experiences far beyond the classroom.

“For many, this will be their first time travelling abroad and we’re incredibly proud to be able to offer this transformative opportunity through the Turing Scheme and The Learning Adventure.

"We are confident the trip will foster greater independence and global awareness, highlighting the profound impact educational experiences can have when students embrace different cultures and ways of life.”

Ajo, a T-Level Health student excited for the trip, said: “The trip to Morocco is an incredible opportunity.

“Being able to experience a completely different culture, meet new people and challenge myself outside of my comfort zone is something I’m really looking forward to.

"It is my first time in Africa and I can’t wait to go with the college!”

The Turing Scheme offers grant funding to education providers to enable students and apprentices to undertake study and work placements across the world.

Last year, the college hosted a trip to Bali, Indonesia with the scheme.
