This may be to join a sixth form college, stay at school or perhaps look for a job or an apprenticeship.

You may be thinking about whether you want to pursue an academic route or a more vocational option.

Exploring your options is really important, so that you can find the best fit for you and your ambitions. Huddersfield New College (HNC) is a dedicated sixth form College and could be one of your choices if you are looking at A Levels or BTEC qualifications. Located just ten minutes from Huddersfield town centre, the College also has its own bus service with routes across Calderdale including Hebden Bridge, Halifax, Elland, Sowerby Bridge and many other local areas.

Choosing a sixth form college has many benefits. With 2800 students on roll, Huddersfield New College offers a huge range of A Level and BTEC courses with the added benefit of being able to combine both, so that you can build a study programme that fits your long term career ambitions and access a huge amount of choice.

When investigating your options, it is important to also consider the results achieved. HNC is in the top 10% of colleges nationally for student progress - a reflection of how the fantastic experience on offer ensures that our young people succeed, achieve their full potential and can successfully progress to their next steps. HNC’s Class of 2020 celebrated fantastic results with a 99.9% pass rate for A Levels and BTECs and a 75% secured A*, A, B grades (or equivalent).

The College was also named as the TES Sixth Form College of the Year 2019, it is Ofsted outstanding in all areas and has been named as the Number 1 Organisation in the UK for Equality and Diversity.

When exploring your options, it is crucial to attend as many Open Events as possible. Although visiting isn’t generally an option due to the pandemic, there are many virtual events taking place. HNC has two upcoming events to support your decision making. Attending one of these will help you to learn more about courses, the support and experiences on offer, and if the College is the right place for your next steps.
