Outstanding praise for Beech Hill

Beech Hill School was inspected in January and lead inspector Lesley Butcher highlighted that leaders and teachers are committed to providing the very best experiences for pupils and together they are developing an outstanding curriculum.

“Teaching is never less than good and much is outstanding. Consequently, pupils who have attended the academy for sustained periods make outstanding progress. The headteacher is a passionate leader with a meticulous eye for detail who has an exceptional knowledge of the pupils and families she serves.”

Headteacher, Shameem Hussain, praised everyone connected with the school – parents, pupils, teachers and governors: “In 2008, the school was struggling and had to be restructured. It evolved into an academy and, at an Ofsted inspection in 2011, was judged as a good with some outstanding features.

“This was a significant improvement but the school was not content to rest on its laurels – we pressed on in our pursuit of excellence and the outcome of our most recent inspection shows what has been achieved.

“When you are faced with challenges there are two ways to respond – either you can limp along achieving a minimum standard or you can meet the difficulties head on, making no excuses, pursuing the best outcome for all your pupils – this is the choice we made”.

Chair of Governors, Chris Haddock, added: “This school works on a collective basis – everyone accepts responsibility for fulfilling aspirations. The school is a stimulating environment in which to work and there is a real sense of pride in what is being achieved.”
