Proud pupils on walk of fame

A record number of current and former students celebrated at The Arches, Dean Clough, Halifax.

Embracing the venue’s current theme of Hollywood, parents, governors and staff enjoyed the students “walk of fame” as they collected their certificates, special awards and prizes in recognition of their outstanding achievements last summer.

Head teacher Helen Morgan said: “Our annual presentation provides us with a great opportunity to mark the achievements of our students.

“They have worked incredibly hard. We wish them every success in the next stage of their journey.”

Prize winners included: Lewis Batchelor, Regan Broadbent, Jessica Edwards, Laura Greenwood, Nichola Holdswroth, Adam Kelly and Thomas O’Donohoe for their contribution to their respective houses.

The commemorative “Oggy Award” went to Jack Bradley.

Key stage four sporting achievement for outstanding contribution in a number of disciplines in and out of school went to Nichola Holdsworth and Chris Truelove.

A sponsored prize from Friends of Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School was presented to Varunn Khanna for his contribution beyond school life and the support he has given coaching sport at Northowram Primary School.

Brighouse Rotary Club annually support the school, sponsoring three awards which went to Katie Brander for attendance, Ellie Greenwood for her contribution to the wider community, and Robyn Maloney for her contribution to school.

Subject Prizes for the highest marks at GCSE were awarded to: Eleanor Barrett, Amy Pickersgill, Evelyn Owrid, Katie Tillotson, Laura Greenwood, Sarah Crook, Millie Campbell, Holly Neal, Holly Marshall, Kennedy Wall, Lucy Pearson, Hannah Kenyon, Regan Broadbent, Jessie Leigh Kendall, Jennifer Midgeley, Lucy Nove, Olivia Widdop and Sarah Dickson.

Two new prizes were presented for performing arts and were given to Andrew Rowley and Patrick Hunt. The head teacher’s prizes went to Thomas Fraser, who made the most impressive progress from GCSE to A-level and James Butterworth, who dropped only one mark in Applied Business.
