Pupil protest outside Halifax Academy causing disruption as police called to the scene

A pupil protest outside a school in Halifax is being monitored by police officers.

A number of pupils have been seen outside Halifax Academy on Gibbet Street for most of the morning.

Police patrols have also been at the incident monitoring the situation.

It is not known at this stage why pupils have left the school.

The Halifax Academy is an all-through school for pupils age four to 16. Currently, there are pupils in Reception, Years one to three and Years seven to 11.

The academy introduced primary education in September 2014, having appointed the head of the primary phase in April 2014.

Primary education was housed in temporary accommodation until a new primary building opened in February 2016.

The Halifax Academy formed the Impact Education Multi-Academy Trust and has sponsor status.

Currently, the school is the only member of the trust. Recent staffing changes have occurred to support the development of the multi-academy trust.

Halifax Academy has been approached for a comment.
