Pupils bake for charity

Two pupils from Luddenden Dene primary school baked and sold buns to raise money for charities close to their hearts.

Lucas Newsome, 11, and Beth Slattery, 10, were helped by teachers and parents to bake and sell cakes at their school.

The fundraising event raised £257 for Overgate and Forget Me Not hospices.

Lucas’ mum, Sam Newsome said: “The children went to great efforts to raise money for charities they care so much about. Sam’s grandma, who passed away last year, spent time at Overgate hospice so Sam wanted to do something to give something back. The day was a great success - Lucas and Beth worked great as a team.”
