These include cricket, rounders, badminton, football, basketball, boxing, dodgeball, boccia, netball, trampolining and rugby.

Assistant Director of Performance and Design at The Halifax Academy, Anna Robinson said: “I am very proud of the commitment and enthusiasm our students and staff show for PE and competitive sport here at the academy.

“We are one of only two secondary schools across Calderdale to have achieved higher than the Bronze Level, which is a fantastic achievement.

“The participation of the students in sport is so important; as well as the health benefits, it helps them develop resilience and determination, learn the importance of self-control, effective teamwork and working towards goals and of course they have lots of fun!”
