Head of Information Advice and Guidance Lorna Aitken leads a team of staff who work in partnership with C and K careers to ensure they deliver a progamme which keeps students well informed of the options open to them and the steps they should take to secure a successful career.

The school’s careers programme is delivered through Learning 4 Life lessons, bespoke events such as the Super Learning Days and is supported by external visits and links with business and industry in the local area and wider afield.

Each year Brighouse High School holds a careers fair in partnership with Mirfield Free Grammar School in Kirklees.

This is also invaluable in providing up to date information for the students and lets them know what opportunities there are for them.

The success of Information Advice and Guidance at Brighouse High is best measured by the progression statistics which show that at 16 every student in successful in moving into further education or into employment with training.

At 18 every students was successful last year in securing a university of his or her choice or a Level three apprenticeship.
