School starts a new chapter with library

Over the summer, St Andrew’s Infant School in Brighouse has been working with Hutton and Cawood building and joinery and architects Howden Russell to construct the library extension.

It was officially unveiled by author and illustrator Lynne Chapman and each class took part in a workshop with the author, with parents invited to join in too.

She also brought in a small selection of signed books for the school on Lightcliffe Road.

Head teacher Naomi Wood said the project was made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of the school and the support of families.

“We wanted to create a space that would promote and raise standards in reading and writing,” she said.

“The children absolutely love it and they think it is fantastic.

“They are now all excited to go to the library and are looking forward to being able to check books out and take them home.”
