Calderdale Covid-19 infection rates continue to fall in the borough

The number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in Calderdale has fallen, according to the latest figures from NHS Digital.

NHS Digital seven-day interval summary data from January 24 to January 30, 2021, show the borough’s case rate being 176.9 per 100,000 people with 374 cases, a fall of 17 per cent on the previous period, when the rate was 209.5 per 100,000 people.

The January 24 to January 30 data also shows Calderdale had a five per cent increase – the number of calls from people who think they may have coronavirus to the various NHS lines – with 173, a triage rate of 82 per 100,000 of people.

Calderdale’s Director of Public Health, Debs Harkins, is encouraging people to keep up the good work in helping reducing the spread of the virus by staying at home where possible, keeping socially distance if you have to go out, not mixing with others and wearing a face covering.

The Government’s figures show the number of positive cases in each area in Calderdale for the seven days to January 28 were as follows.

Todmorden West and Cornholme, 16; Todmorden East and Walsden, 7; Hebden Bridge, 6; Mytholmroyd and Cragg Vale, 7; Ripponden, Rishworth and Barkisland, 8; Greetland and Stainland, 12; Elland, 25; Rastrick West, 9; Rastrick East, 33; Brighouse, 15; Clifton and Bailiff Bridge, 17; Hipperholme, 7; Northowram and Shelf, 18; Central Halifax and Boothtown, 16; Sowerby Bridge, 12; Sowerby and Luddenden Foot, 10; Norton Tower and Mount Tabor, 11; Savile Park, 5; Skircoat Green, 3; Southowram and Siddal, 9; Pellon East, 43; Pellon West and Highroad Well, 12; King Cross, 35; Wheatley and Ovenden West, 21; Ovenden East, 8; Mixenden, 16 and Illingworth and Ogden, 19.

The Government figures by local area are classed as Middle Super Output Areas – each has an average population of around 7,200.
