The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Calderdale increased by 159 over the weekend, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 8,472 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Monday (December 7) in Calderdale, up from 8,313 the same time on Friday.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 47,528 over the period, to 1,737,960.

Calderdale's cases were among the 221,882 recorded across Yorkshire and The Humber, a figure which rose by 3,375 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
