Halifax businessman feeds 250 Calderdale Royal Hospital staff

A Halifax businessman has gone over and beyond to show their appreciation for staff at Calderdale Royal Hospital, by delivering hundreds of hot meals completely free of charge.

Gurpit Johal, managing director of Johal Empire, donated over 100 pizzas, 200 portions of chips , 400 cans of fizzy drinks, 100 tubs of salad, feeding around 250 members of NHS staff.

The food was prepared by King’s Stone Baked pizzas in Ovenden and delivered by Mr Johal.

Mr Johal said: “The night was intense. We juggled trying to get everything organised correctly, making sure we got it down to the hospital in a timely manner and most importantly making sure the food was warm.

“I think it’s important to give back to the community at the moment. If we work as a team, we can overcome the coronavirus we need to stick together protect the NHS and save lives.”

Mr Johal also urged residents to think about their actions when leaving their homes.

“I urge the public only leave the house if completely necessary.
