Health chiefs hail “fantastic progress” after figures reveal more than 45,000 people in Calderdale have had the Covid-19 vaccine

Health chiefs have hailed the rate of vaccinations in the borough after figures revealed that more than 45,000 people in Calderdale were given the Covid-19 jab between December and February.

Figures from the National Immunisation Management Service (NIMS) database show that from December 8 last year to February 14 this year, 46,568 Covid-19 vaccinations were administered in Calderdale.

The figures show that 19,268 people under 70 and 25,872 people over 70 have received the first dose in Calderdale, and that 506 people under 70 and 922 people over 70 in Calderdale have received the second dose.

A spokesperson from NHS Calderdale CCG said: “The latest figures from the NHS show that we’ve vaccinated over 45,000 eligible people in Calderdale so far, as part of the biggest vaccination programme we’ve seen. This is something to celebrate.

“These figures show that we’re going about things in the right way to get back to something that looks like normality.

“This fantastic progress is down to the hard work of all our vaccinators and staff working across our communities to protect people most at risk of becoming seriously ill from the coronavirus.”

People aged 65 and over and all individuals aged 16 to 64 years with underlying health conditions, which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality, and carers are now being invited for vaccinations.
