For weeks we stood on our door steps clapping their heroic efforts, but now our local NHS Trust would like to give thanks to the community for supporting it during this difficult time.

Trust chairman Philip Lewer said: “Covid-19 has seen the local NHS change like it could never have imagined. Staff in all roles have risen to the challenge to change the way they work, where they work and who they work with.

“Faced with so many challenges, what has meant a lot has been the outpouring of support from local communities. There are so many examples and we are grateful for every single kind thought and deed in support.”

The trust’s charity has also shared a message of thanks for everyone that has spent their lockdown fundraising for the trust.

Fundraising and charity manager Emma Kovaleski commented: “On behalf of Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, and Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Charity, I wish to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to our local communities for such extraordinary generosity and incredible donations given to help support our NHS staff during these challenging times. We have been so very touched by the kindness and compassion of our communities and feel so incredibly grateful knowing so many were there for us when we needed the support of our communities most.

“Because of our communities, patients have been able to stay connected with their loved ones, additional health and well-being support has been made available for our amazing frontline NHS workforce, and we have made sure that the all-important additional extras have been provided, for patients, their loved ones and staff whenever and wherever.

“At CHFT we believe in ‘one culture of care’ where we look after our patients, their families and each other with the same level of outstanding care. We couldn’t do what we do without you.

“We strive to enhance and improve the compassionate care we provide by making sure we are able to fund the all-important extras, how large or small they may be. I’d like to encourage you to keep in touch with our NHS charity in the future as we continue to raise funds to help our trust do more.”

The Halifax Courier approached several groups and organisations ... we couldn’t possibly get to everybody, and some were unable at this time to participate, but don’t worry if you or your staff aren’t featured. We’re more than happy to devote more pages in the near future for more Big Thank You pictures. If you’d like to send in photos please email [email protected], including the names of those pictured and what they do, or have done, in the coronavirus effort.
