Society urges Calderdale to unite against dementia
On Tuesday May 22, 5.30pm to 7.30pm, charity staff and volunteers will be hosting an event at The OrangeBox Young People’s Centre.
Pupils from Beech Hill School, Halifax will present short plays, poetry readings and dance performances to highlight some difficulties facing people affected by dementia, particularly when trying to engage in their local communities.

Hide AdThe school choir will also perform alongside Calderdale Singing for the Brain group, made up of people living with dementia.
Everyone will have the chance to discuss how actions, large and small, can make a real difference to the lives of people with living with dementia.
Kate Oldfield, Alzheimer’s Society Service Manager, Calderdale, said: “Dementia Action Week is our chance to engage with a wider audience who don’t yet support us and ask them to make a difference.
"We want to get as many people as possible to commit to taking an action in their local community to make life better for people living with dementia.

Hide Ad“We’re calling on people in Calderdale to take action this Dementia Action Week. In the UK, one person develops dementia every three minutes and almost everyone knows someone whose life has been affected.
"Yet too many people face the condition alone without adequate support – this is an opportunity to help to change that by getting everyone to play their part in making our community mire dementia friendly.”
