Old School...

These two photos, to left and right, taken at Sowood School, Stainland, in 1940, were sent in by David Riley, who is pictured on the back row of the left-hand photo, fourth from the left.

He writes: “My name is David Riley. I was born in Sowood in 1933 and lived there until 1948 and still have relatives in Sowood. I was looking through some rather old photographs and thought these might interest some people in the Stainland area.

“Sowood School only had two teachers and two classes in that era and many of them will still live in the area. The photos here are of those in the two classes in 1940. I also attended Bowling Green School in Stainland.”

David knows most of the names of the children in his class (on the left), but not as many in the other class and he would be pleased if anyone could fill in the missing names. He lives at 3 Cwrt Y Capel, Llannerch Road East, Rhos on Sea, Conwy,North Wales, LL28 4FB (tel: 01492 525986; email: davrill@btinternet.com)
