If you’re stuck for ideas on what to do this weekend then help is on the way.

Calderdale Council’s Wildside booklet has been released which list all walks and events from across Calderdale from April 2011 to March 2012.

The 51-page-guide tells you everything you need to know to stay entertained, educated and excited in our region.

Some of this week’s highlights have been arranged by Mytholmroyd Walkers’ Action beginning with a walk to a local brewery.

All are welcome to take part in the six mile walk, on Friday June 3, up to the Little Valley Brewery, Cragg Vale, before a tour of the distillery and a taste of their tipple.

This is followed on Sunday June 12 with a five-mile walk around Broadhead Clough Nature Reserve. But it’s not just walking on the agenda the guide includes events, training courses and practical tasks.

Each entry in the booklet is given special symbols to indicate what it will involve.

The more physical activities are rated in terms of how strenuous they are while there are hundreds of family friendly activities highlighted.

But it’s not all walking and painting pictures there is apple pruning and dry stone walling sessions at Shibden Park in August; bat box building sessions at Wellholme Park and Punch and Judy shows at Manor Heath.

The book lasts throughout the winter including Christmas festivities such as mince pie tasting and wreath making.

The guide is available from tourist information centres and council buildings free of charge.
