What’s on in Calderdale this Easter?

Whatever the weather, Easter in Calderdale will be all-white - and here’s just a few of the egg-cellent things to do over the next few days

Good Friday:

Kershaws, Halifax Road, Brighouse are holding an Easter Egg Hunt trail.

Heptonstall Pace Egg Play, Weaver’s Square, Heptonstall, the historical play about St George slaying his enemiest and dates back to ancient Egypt will make its annual debut, today. Shows will start at 11:15, 12:30, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.


Hebden Bridge Easter Indoor Bazaar at Holme Street Arts Centre will hold an indoor Easter market from 10am - 4pm. Books, DVDs, antiques, collectibles, arts and crafts and many more delights will be on sale. Admission is 10p.

Mytholm: Incredible Edible Field Day. Enjoy a green Easter at the IEM launch party for their Growing Futures project where you can help plant 30 trees and indulge in some fresh local produce. From noon. Free admission.

Halifax: The Vue: Lean back this Easter - at the cinemas. From children’s animation The Croods to Les Miserables.

Halifax: Electric Bowl - ten out of ten for family fun with ten-pin bowling.

Easter Sunday:

Halifax: Shibden Hall: across the weekend they will be holding Easter trails and activites. Daily from 10am - 4.15pm.

Across the region: Check out your local church for its Sunday service - where you can enjoy singing hymns and meeting new residents.

Hebden Bridge: Hardcastle Crags: Cadbury’s Easter Egg Hunt - running throughout Easter weekend 11am - 4pm. Admission £1.50.

Halifax: Piece Hall: Charity table-top sale on from 11am - 4pm

Easter Monday:

Hebden Bridge: Go quackers: Charity Duck Race along the River Hebden. Starting in the town centre - the race starts at 3.15pm when the ducks are dropped into the river from St George’s Bridge. There will lots of family fun to be had with children’s rides, charity stalls and live music from a local jazz band. The event is free to watch. Duck Race tickets are £1 each and are on sale from 10am - 3pm in St George’s Square.

Halifax: Wainhouse Tower is 11am - 4pm. Climb the 459 steps to the top and enjoy the view. £2 adults, £1.50 child. Family £6.

Halifax Violetta Vintage, 261 King Cross Road: Easter nearly-new plus size ladies fashion and accessories Monday market. £1 entrance.

Hebden Bridge: Unearth Tracking, Trails and Easter Egg Hunt at Hardcastle Crags are holding a day of Self Discovery through creative and fun play for children and adults in a woodland setting. Fire craft, shelter building, creating natural art, and exploring through the senses activities will keep children entertained. Running from 1-3pm, cost is £7 per person but first child goes free.

Halifax: Big game - FC Halifax Town v Bradford Park Avenue, 3pm kick-off at The Shay
