Italian jobs add contemporary style to home

A TRADITIONAL stone semi has gained a Mediterranean makeover, giving it the best of both worlds.

The substantial 1930s-built house in Willowfield Avenue, Rochdale Road, Halifax, was built on a good-sized corner plot and offers very spacious four-bedroom accommodation.

But high-quality improvements carried out in the last three years - an Italian Verona fitted kitchen and stylish, modern bathroom, both from Websters Interiors of Brighouse - have added a touch of classical but contemporary chic to its bold Yorkshire structure.

The transformation of the kitchen - which includes an integrated Miele microwave and coffee machine, plus a host of other integrated appliances - is complemented by a laminate wood floor. Double doors lead from the spacious entrance hall to the kitchen while the dining room and comfortable lounge with bay window are also accessed from the hall, giving each room independence - there’ll be no one trooping through en route to another part of the house.

Graham Thomas has enjoyed living there for the past 30 years. But his wife Christine died last month and he now plans to move.

Mr Thomas says of his home: “It is an imposing house on a big plot of land, with a generous flagged area to the rear and mature gardens to the front and side.”

The house is for sale with Property@Kemp&Co, Skircoat Green, Halifax, for offers around £285,000.
