Gardens featured open studios of local artists with displays of knitwear, paintings and more.

Midgley’s Community Room served homemade lunches to visitors and refreshments were served in individual gardens.

The event is organised by the Community Group for Midgley.

The group’s social secretary, Anne Holdsworth, said: “It was a most enjoyable weekend ;enjoyed by all with people travelling from across Yorkshire and beyond to see the gardens, which are otherwise unseen by the public.

“The weather was better on the Saturday but the rain cleared by Sunday lunchtime. We were so busy - we ran out of cakes on Saturday.

“The weekend had a pleasant convivial community atmosphere about it.”
