100 at Facebook park party

Police were called to a park where 100 teenagers descended for a party advertised on Facebook.

Manor Heath Park in Halifax was left littered with rubbish including empty beer and spirits bottles after the huge bash arranged over the social networking site for one youngster’s birthday.

Sergeant John Thomas, from Halifax Central neighbourhood policing team, said: “Although there is no indication that there will be any other similar events, we are closely monitoring any activity that may suggest otherwise and will take immediate and uncompromising action against any individual or group who chooses to ignore the licensing laws of Halifax; specifically in relation to the consumption of alcohol not being permitted in a public place.

“In stark contrast to the perception of teenagers out of control, it was rewarding and delightful for us to be approached by a number of teenagers in the park on the day following the party, who verbalised their dismay at the activities of the party-goers, and who then assisted clearing away the debris.”
