LDN Architects, along with Blacc, Buro Happold and MAC Construction Consultants, were appointed by Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council to prepare a series of feasibility studies of redevelopment options for the site.

The feasibility studies determined that the best location for the sixth form centre facilities was in the former Halifax Central Library block, with the two former council office blocks redeveloped to support mixed uses. Renovation plans to redevelop the former Council offices at Northgate House and the old Central Library was granted fullplanning permissionin September.Work to strip out the former library building is also now complete. The building is now completely empty, creating a blank canvas to start the work of making a new sixth form centre for CalderdaleTender packages for site set-up, temporary electrical works, external envelope and building work have now been returned and are currently being appraised by the project team.
