Abducted man jumps out of van in Halifax street

A MAN who was abducted and beaten escaped his captors to jump out of a van in Halifax last night.

The 53-year-old was leaving a business premises on Whetley Lane in Girlington, Bradford, just before 7pm when a gang of men grabbed him and dragged him into a large white van.

He was assaulted while in the back of the van but managed to get out in Dunkirk Lane, off Parkinson Lane in Halifax, near to Dunkirk Tyres, at around 8pm.

He suffered head and hand injuries and was detained in hospital overnight.

Police say inquiries into the incident are ongoing and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a large white van in the Whetley Lane area from around 5.30pm to 7pm yesterday, or anyone who witnessed the van in the Dunkirk Lane area of Halifax at around 8pm.
