IT’S all aboard for fans of the railway as this year’s Halifax Model Railway club exhibition gets ready to open its doors.

There will be 19 working model railways in various scales on display.

The Bodmin Model Railway club will be displaying their new model railway layout “Old Elms Road” at the event. The layout is based on the Southern Region of British Railways in the last days of the steam locomotives.

It also models a Southern Electric branch line operating on a third line system. It is the first time the impressive layout has been shown outside of Cornwall.

Also on display will be the Kirkby Stephen layout, based on Midland Railway’s Settle and Carlisle line, as well as a model of Schull station. Alan Gee, a member of the Halifax club, has spent three years making the model.

As well as models there will be trade stands selling model railway items at the exhibition that has gained a reputation.

The exhibition takes place at North Bridge Leisure Centre, Halifax on Saturday September 24 from 10am until 5.30pm and Sunday September 25 from 10am until 5pm.
