All in a day's work: Rescue team help two injured people and join search for missing teenager
It was a busy day for the Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team yesterday (Wednesday) as they helped two injured people and assisted in the search for a missing teenager.
Yesterday morning, the team received a call from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) requesting urgent assistance with an injured walker who had fallen and sustained an ankle fracture.
Once on scene, near Spa Clough Reservoir, Rishworth, members helped to transfer the casualty by stretcher to a helicopter for a short flight to an ambulance.
Later in the day, the team was called to Lumb Falls, near Pecket Well, to evacuate an injured male who had fallen into the stream and was unconscious after hitting his head.
A few moments after the accident, the injured man regained consciousness. He received treatment at the scene before being transferred to hospital for further assessment of his head injuries.
CVSRT’s search dog Jack, plus his handler and navigator were also deployed to assist with the ongoing search for a missing 14-year-old Kizzy Whitehurst.
The teenager has since been found.
