FREESTYLE skier Tyler Harding has racked up another success as he gets set to join Team GB for the Youth Olympics.
Tyler, 15, will join the team in Innsbruck in January. He is one of only six athletes selected to join the team and has made history and become the first to represent their country.
The competition runs between January 13 and 22. It is the first Youth Olympic Winter Games.
More than 1,000 athletes will represent their countries in seven sports.
Tyler began skiing aged four.
“Mum and Dad are Snowboarders, and bought me a snowboard. When we went on our first ski holiday to Bulgaria, the instructors told them I was too small to snowboard so I went into ski school and I never went back to snowboarding.” He competed in his first competition aged seven and picked up by renowned sponsor Salomon aged 10.
2011 has been another amazing year for Tyler. He came 5th in the rookie category at the Austrian Open and was a semi finalist in the European Open. In Laax, Switzerland he came first in the Under 17s and second overall in Slopestyle as well as first in Half Pipe and Big Air.
In October he earned a trio of awards for his skiing, picking up the silver award in the male British championships, gold in the youth category of the Indoor Slopestyle Championship and even earned the title of ‘Rail Slayer’ as part of the skills and technique section of the competition.
