All set for top day out at Brighouse Gala

The 2014 Brighouse Charity Gala will be held on Saturday, June 28, in Wellholme Park.

The gala, one of the highlights of the Brighouse social calendar, will feature a range of entertainment, displays, stalls, refreshments and fun for all the family.

Thousands of visitors are expected to flock to the park on Saturday for the gala.

The action-packed day begins at noon when the gala procession sets off from Garden Road, Brighouse, and makes its way to the park.

Taking pride of place in the procession will be the 2014 Gala Queen Paige Roderick and attendant Isobel Haw.

The procession is expected to arrive at the park at approximately 1pm, when Paige will officially open the gala.

Gates will open at the park at noon.

There will be numerous musical acts performing in the park during the afternoon, with the timetable as follows:

12.45pm: Alex Stole the Milk

1.45pm: Roger Davies

2.15pm: Oliver Stock

3pm: Time Travellers

4pm: Kaytie-Jo

4.20pm: Bradford Ukes.

Renowned Calderdale singer songwriter Roger Davies will be performing his Tour de France inspired single The Grand Depart during his set.

Kaytie-Jo, who dances with A Star Dance in Gawthorpe and attends Horbury Academy, said she is really looking forward to performing at the gala and hope the sun shines on everyone all day long.

Oliver Stock is a music student at Calderdale College and has performed twice for the college at its presentation evenings at the Victoria Theatre, Halifax, as well as singing at the Candelighters charity event at Rastrick Cricket Club last August.

This is Oliver’s second appearance on the stage. Last year he also sang on The Pulse Roadshow in the park

The Time Travellers are a professional band providing music for all generations, styles and tastes by experienced and professional musicians.

The band is led by Peter “Fingers”, who has directed theatre musicals throughout Yorkshire .

The Tigers children’s motorcycle display team ranges in age from five to 14. It is based on the south coast near Portsmouth and has been in existence for more than 33 years, with the aim of allowing children the opportunity to learn how to ride motorcycles safely and, at the same time, perform stunts, tricks and jumps over cars .

The Diamond Gymnastics team will also be performing routines in the arena.

Other entertainment on the day includes the duck race, model train rides, go-karts, a fairground and much more.

And the Brighouse Echo penalty shootout competition will return on Saturday.
