THE arena and stage are full, the field is getting packed, the procession is ready - now all the Brighouse Charity Gala needs is the weather.
Over the last 12 months organisers have been planning one of the biggest events in the town and this Saturday the wait will finally be over as the crowds of people will make their way to Wellholme Park for a fun packed day.
Chairman of the committee, Peter Charles, said: “There is a lot of variety this year and of course a full arena programme and stage.”
The gala queen, Emilie Large, will open the show at 2pm and this year at the end of the opening ceremony, president of Brighouse Rotary, Jenny Redfearn, will be presenting a cheque in excess of £4,000 raised from the Navigation Walk for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
“It is going to be a good day and I would encourage people to come down and have fun and spend your money and help those that can’t help themselves,” said Peter.
Crowds should gather along the route to watch the three bands, around ten floats and various walking groups make their way to the field.
Tickets are on sale from the caravan outside Wilkinson’s and various shops in the town centre who are displaying the gala poster. These serve only as entrance tickets, exchanged for a programme on entry to the field.
