Annual model railway exhibition is on track

Halifax Model Railway Club will be hosting its 44th annual exhibition at the North Bridge Leisure Centre on September 24 and 25.

The exhibition, featuring 20 model railway layouts as well as stands from traders, will include the Halifax Club’s model of Halifax Station.

Set in the 1950’s/early 1960’s the 30 foot long model depicts the station as it was then, including the extensive facilities for goods traffic – now long gone.

Work on this model started in the 1980’s but after 10 years work the model was retired until about seven years ago when it was completely re-furbished and much detail added, including lighting in many of the buildings.

Younger visitors to the exhibition will recognise the main station building as the Eureka nursery.

The opening times are 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday.

There is excellent access for wheelchairs as the venue is on one level and there are wide aisles.

Admission prices are £6 for adults, while accompanied children can go for free.
