The town is proud to be part of the national Walkers are Welcome Towns network, the community led initiative of attractive destinations where all visitors are assured of a warm welcome.

This year’s programme of guided family walks along with various other events, is again being put together by the Boroughbridge Walks Group.

Group spokesman Barry McCallum said: “The two previous festivals were so popular that they would be a hard act to follow but we are determined that, in partnership with other groups, we will produce an even more popular festival for locals and visitors alike.”

Next year’s festival will run from April 3-6 and as well as offering a range of walks, will also have evening events and entertainment.

“Most of our walks will be different from those in previous festivals,” addedMr McCallum.

“But amongst them will be the ever popular Ghost Walk, where nearly 100 people turned up last time, a treasure hunt walk for children, and another walk in aid of a special charity.”

The programme is still being put together, and some events, still under wraps, will be added to it over the next few weeks.
