Appeal after Huddersfield accident

An 18-year-old female cyclist suffered serious head injuries at Station Road, Marsden, at 8.25 am today.(Mon)

At 8.26 am police received reports she had fallen from a pedal bicycle and are appealing for witnesses.

She is currently being treated at Leeds General Infirmary.

PC Cameron Buchan of the Western Area Roads Policing Unit said: “We know she had travelled to Marsden train station earlier this morning and had begun her journey in Manchester.

“She has then got onto a bicycle which is particularly distinctive, with a white frame and blue wheels.

“It is important that we understand where she has retrieved the bike and her movements leading to the incident.

“We have conducted CCTV enquiries and we continue to investigate the circumstances.”

Witnesses should call police on 101.
