Appeal for witnesses to Huddersfield assault

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Huddersfield

The Huddersfield South Neighbourhood Policing Team would like to speak to anyone who has information about the offence which took place on Sunday May 26 between 12.30am and 1am.

It occurred after the victim, a taxi driver, picked up a man from the Pear Tree Public House, on Huddersfield Road, Mirfield.

On the journey the suspect made racially abusive comments and then assaulted the driver when he stopped the car next to the playing fields on Leeds Road in Huddersfield.

The attacked then ran off without paying the fare, leaving the victim with a grazed jaw.

He is described as a white male, stocky-build, around 35 years of age and around 5’ 7” / 5’ 8” tall with brown wavy/curly hair of a medium length and was wearing a green t-shirt.
