Appeal lodged to retain marquee

An appeal has been lodged to retain a marquee for six months at the Casa Hotel and Restaurant.

Calderdale Council’s planning committee heard the application twice after an administration error at the first meeting back in October last year.

The plan split the committee evenly but the final decision was taken by chair Steve Sweeney. The case was then heard again in November but again it was refused.

Owner Jack McDaid said after the last committee that he was extremely disappointed and frustrated with the decision made by the committee.

Mr McDaid wants temporary permission for the marquee until he can raise the funds to build a £2 million function suite.

No letters of objection were received in respect of the previous two hearings but one letter of support was submitted.

If anyone would like to submit their views then they should be made in writing to The Planning Inspectorate, 3/05 Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN but March 29 with reference number APP/A4710/A/12/2188618.
