OLD boys and girls are invited to what promises to be the reunion of the century.
Sowerby Bridge High School is welcoming back former pupils of all ages to celebrate its centenary this year.
The comprehensive, in Albert Road, Sowerby Bridge, now caters for more than 1,000 girls and boys and specialises in maths and computing.
It was founded as the single-sex Sowerby Bridge Secondary School on May 7, 1910, accommodating 80 boys, and later became Sowerby Bridge Grammar School.
Famous former pupils include the late Roger Hargreaves, creator of the Mister Men and Little Miss children’s book series.
Assistant head teacher Nicola Hogarth said: “We hope that many old boys, girls and teachers will attend and have the chance to meet their old friends, see some memorabilia of the school and tour the new school if they wish.”
The centenary evening is planned at the school for June 30, at 6.30 pm.
Tickets, which cost 5 and include a buffet reception, are available from the school reception on 01422 831011 or admin@sowerbybridge. calderdale.sch.uk
